What to expect after you book your first appointment
Once you’re set up on JaneApp, you’ll complete your intake form before your first visit. This helps me get familiar with your health history ahead of time so we can spend more of our appointment focusing on what matters most to you.
You’ll also be asked to add a valid credit card to your account. Your card won’t be charged before your visit.
If you have any recent blood work results, you can email them to admin.DrIshaND@gmail.com before your appointment.
Initial visit
60 min · $250Your first visit is a 60-minute session focused entirely on you.
We’ll talk through your main concerns—like energy, hormones, digestion, mood, periods, or weight—and how they’re affecting your daily life. We’ll also explore your diet, sleep, stress, and lifestyle.
We’ll review your health history, along with any medications, supplements, and recent lab results. If needed, we may do a simple physical exam and recommend or order further testing.
You’ll have time to ask questions—especially things you may not have had the chance to fully explore before.
By the end, you’ll leave with a clear, personalized plan that may include targeted supplements, nutrition guidance, lab insights, and practical next steps to help you feel better.

We review your labs together, clarify your diagnosis, and build your treatment plan. You’ll understand what’s happening in your body and exactly what we’re doing about it. We decide together where to start so the plan feels realistic and exciting — not overwhelming
How is the plan working? What’s getting in the way? This visit is for working through roadblocks, adjusting what needs adjusting, and ordering 3-month reassessment labs so we can track your progress.
We review your reassessment labs to see what’s working. Then we layer on next steps — building on what’s already moving the needle for you.
We tweak the plan, create a maintenance protocol, and transition you to check-ins every 6 months. By this point, most patients feel their original concerns are well managed and they have a sustainable plan they can carry forward.

How do the virtual visits work?
Watch this video for more info.
Telemedicine consult is only available to patients located in Ontario, as per Naturopathic Regulation in Ontario.
Simply head to the ONLINE BOOKING platform and select a service from the virtual visits available.
Once scheduled, an email with a link will be sent 30 mins before your appointment.
Treatment plans will continue to be delivered via digital prescription and necessary supplements can be ordered through FullScript, online health store or you can buy them from a local store near you.
Can I benefit from virtual care?
The question of whether or not you can benefit from virtual naturopath sessions depends on what your needs are.
If you’re a new patient with a chronic medical condition that requires a physical examination, you can still book an appointment for the initial consultation over telemedicine. However, if it’s an urgent concern, for example – if you have a rash that we need to see, an ear infection, a concern about your heart, blood pressure, or your breathing, I would need to see you in person to perform the appropriate physical assessments. You can view the in-person visit options here.
Diet and lifestyle strategies are key for the majority of chronic health conditions. I will focus on educating you about your health condition as well as the roles that diet, lifestyle and supplements in improving your health. So, we will be starting your health goals without delay. I will support you virtually as effectively as I would if you were in person.
Your follow up visits can be done over the phone or online. Virtual naturopathic visits can be used to review lab work results or discuss changes to your diet, supplement, or lifestyle regimen.
If you’re unsure if your health concerns can be addressed through virtual consultations, feel free to contact us and we will be happy to clarify.
How long will it take to see results?
Everyone is different, but most patients start noticing changes within the first 3 months. You might notice better energy or sleep first, while things like your period, weight, and hormone symptoms can take longer.
I’ll be honest with you about what to expect, help you track your progress, and make changes to your plan when needed. We’ll focus on progress that makes sense for you, not quick fixes or unrealistic promises.
What is the cancellation or no show policy?
Your appointment time is set aside just for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us at least 48 hours’ notice.
- Late cancellations: Cancellations made less than 48 hours before your appointment are charged 50% of the appointment fee.
- Missed appointments: If you miss your appointment without notice, the full appointment fee will apply.
- How to cancel: If your appointment is more than 48 hours away, you can cancel or reschedule through JaneApp. If you need to cancel within 48 hours, please email us directly.
- Returning patients: If it’s been more than a year since your last visit, please book an initial appointment so we can review your health history and discuss your current concerns.
You’ll receive appointment reminders 7 days and 2 days before your visit.
Thank you for understanding!
Do you offer direct billing?
We don’t offer direct billing, so you’ll pay for your appointment directly. You can pay securely through JaneApp or by e-transfer.
After your visit, you’ll receive an electronic receipt by email with the information you need to submit a claim to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Coverage depends on your individual insurance plan.

Do the naturopathic visits include HST?
Naturopathic Doctors do not charge HST for Naturopathic Visits or lab fees.
Are naturopathic medicine services covered by OHIP?
No, they are not. Most extended health care plans cover naturopathic medicine services. Check with your private or workplace health insurance plan for coverage details.
Are supplements and lab testing included in fees?
Supplement and lab costs are separate from your appointment fee and will depend on your individual needs. All blood work testing is done through LifeLabs.
Dr. Bhatoa, ND, does not sell supplements but will recommend reliable options for purchasing them online or in stores.
How much is lab testing?
In order to perform any lab testing, you must be an existing patient. We cannot order lab testing for individuals who are not patients of our clinic.
Blood tests for your thyroid, iron, vitamins, hormone levels, vitamin D, blood sugar/insulin, liver or cholesterol panel, etc. are available through our office. However, if the naturopath orders these tests, the costs are not covered by OHIP. If such tests would be helpful or necessary, we will recommend which tests you need. You can do them through your medical doctor or a walk-in clinic, or you may pay to have them performed by us. Lab blood markers vary in prices, I will inform you about the importance of the tests and provide an estimated cost prior to any testing.
Naturopathic doctors can order a variety of specialized testing such as food sensitivity testing, Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis, SIBO testing, DUTCH urine hormone testing and saliva hormone testing.
Do I need a referral to see a naturopathic doctor?
No, you do not need a referral. You can book now.
How are naturopathic doctors trained?
Naturopathic doctors complete three years of pre-medical undergraduate studies (usually four) with the completion of a Bachelors degree, and another four years at a recognized college of naturopathic medicine (I went to Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in North York).
At a naturopathic college, naturopathic doctors study some of the same things medical doctors do, including anatomy (yes, cadavers!), physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology and more.
We also have 1500 hours of supervised clinical experience.
Is a Homeopath and a Naturopath the same thing?
No, they are different from naturopathic doctors.
Healthcare practitioners who are experts in and use only homeopathy in their treatment plan are called homeopaths. Naturopathic doctors are trained in many modalities, including traditional Chinese medicine, herbal medicine and homeopathy. They may utilize it as a part of their treatment plan, along with a number of other modalities.
“ND”, “naturopathic doctor” and “naturopath” are protected titles. That means only people who are qualified to practise can use the title. Anyone seeing a naturopath should expect a highly trained professional who has met comprehensive standards.
Will having a naturopath interfere with my relationship with my medical doctor?
I am pleased to work with your medical doctor, according to your preferences. My goal is to ensure you receive the best health care possible.
